My ds 3 and a bit has been stammering on and off for last 8 months. It gets more pronounced when he's tired or excited. All the advice is to leave it alone, don't draw attention to your son's speech but make sure that you speak slowly and clearly yourself. Also V. important not to finish their sentences if they can't get the words out. Breaks my heart when my son is having a bad day and says "I was..was...was.wa...w...w...I don't know......" It's a developmental thing that can occur when there is so much happening with your child that they have a bit of trouble processing it. i have been advised to leave it til age 6 before seeing a specialist as will probably go away with time...

I read that last posting with interst my ds2 is 4 and has been stammring on a few letters for about a year now, we try not to rush him and have found that he will no choose differentwords to use if he is getting stuck, I think he stammers because his mind is always racing, full of questions, and his speach cant keep up with his brain. He is taught in a non english speaking school and have been informd by the teacher that he doesnt stammer in Catalan, i think thats because he thinks slower in the other language?
