Desperate for help with 1 yr old! PLS HELP

My son is 13 months old. Because we have had building works, he has always been in our room and I nurse him back to sleep at night. At nap time he sleeps by cuddling (because builders been here I havent been able to sleep train him properly)
I now want to stop breastfeeding and get him to sleep & to sleep through the night by himself. He still wakes at 11, 3, 6 then 7 again. He has a 2 hr nap in the afternoon. He is so clingy!!
I tried the Crying Out Method today that I did with my daughter, who took to it within 2 nights. But my son gets in a desperate state and I dont feel it is right. Does anyone have any advice for getting him to sleep on his own and through the night? I am desperate. He now has his own room ready

What worked for my girls were:

Blackout blinds

Dropping the night feeds by going in if they cried and settling them milk free, they soon learnt that the waking up for food didn't happen

As you're breastfeeding make sure you don't drop everything all in one go or you'll get that horrible swollen boob thing, like when the milk comes in, ouch!

If you can, try settling him in his own bed for naps, as he's used to cuddling you'll probably have to start off with cuddling and gradually wean him off the sleepy cuddles. For example, cuddle in room, cuddle with him in bed, pat/stroke him in bed, then stay in room till he falls asleep and then stay just outside the room and then walk out of sight, or you could try going cold turkey but I think that might be hard from what you've said, although you may be pleasantly surprised. It's a difficult one.

You do know that stopping bfing doesn't mean he'll stop waking don't you, sorry. You'll just loose the one thing that is guaranteed to get him back to sleep.

Well what worked for my DS was stopping breastfeeding. Between 5 to 11 months he used to wake up every hour, and between 11 months and 13 months every 2 hours. I was so utterly exhausted. DH took him to my mums for 5 days, he cried on the 1st night for me, but after that got used to DH and having water. 5 days later he forgot about breastfeeding and only woke up 1-2 times a night for a sip of water. I would never have believed that it would have worked but very thankfully it did. I hope whatever you decide to do, works out for you.

I did cold turkey on breastfeeding, and yes the first two days were painful, but it wasn't as bad as I had feared.

Getting DS in his own room, really helped us out. We also phased in bottles starting with last at night so both my partner and I could take turns. Then the mid-night ones etc.

EBF and EBM is all well and good, but if he's getting plenty of milk from other sources you can consider toning it down, like phasing out morning BF in favour of milky cereal

Have you introduced a cup? After a year you could go onto cows milk. That's what my mum did, of course it was at 6months in her day - cold turkey off breast and onto cows milk in a cup. You get a few messy days but it all works out.
