When does avid babbling turn into words?

Just curious, really!

My 11.5 month old twins babble at each other and at me all the time. I do try to narrate our day and read to them, so hopefully they're getting a good deal of language input from me, but I was just curious when the avid babbling turns into words. They can say simple things like mama, daddy and yeah, but often they'll look straight at me and babble away like the think they're saying something perfectly intelligible. Looking forward to when we can actually chat but also worried about twin language delay...

My DD aged 6 is best friends with a set of twins and they had twin language delay but you'd never guess it now. The babbling should turn into more words between now and the next 6 months really. You should see a steady flow of new words but they're little still so too soon to worry!
