When did your LO drop to one nap?

And how did you know they were ready to?

DS is 10.5mo and for about 2mo has reliably napped at 9/9.30 and 2.30/3. Usually has 1hr 15mins at both naps.

In the last week he won't sleep till almost 10.30 and the afternoon nap has been hit and miss.

Surely he's too young for just one nap?!!

Not until about 15 months

She just wasn't tired in the morning anymore

ShadyMyLady · 09/08/2014 17:38

All my three were around 12 months.

Ds who's 16 months had the same sleep pattern as yours but he only slept about 1 and a half hours in total for the day. Then at about 11/12 months it went a bit pear shaped. So I decided to cut the morning nap and give him lunch a little early then put him for a nap after. The first few days were tough then it was fine, and actually worked much better for him. Especially as his nap time nearly doubled and will sleep for 2 and a half to 3 hours now!

My DS hates sleep Grin dropped to one nap at 10 months, he does have a good nap though! Generally sleeps from 10:30-12:30 some times like today even 13:30!
He is perfectly happy and is ready for bed at 7pm :)

neversleepagain · 09/08/2014 20:46

14 months.

They took longer and longer to fall asleep in the morning so I skipped it one morning and that was it.

ilovepowerhoop · 09/08/2014 20:49

Both mine were around 11 months when they dropped to 1 nap

eagle2010 · 09/08/2014 20:54

Thanks ladies! So seeing as DS is approaching 11mo it mightn't be beyond the realms of possibility that we might need to drop one of the naps.

Did your LOs nap 10.30-12.30 and then have dinner? Or did they have an early dinner and then nap at 12.30 or so?

This mothering lark is confusing! Just when I have it figured out, things change Grin

DD never had a morning nap. She always had a two-hour nap at lunch which I can't remember when she dropped.

DearGirl · 09/08/2014 20:57

I always aim to drop to 1 nap by 12 months and sleep in the afternoon. Aim to have lunch from 11.45 onwards pushing it back as they get used to not having a a morning nap

ilovepowerhoop · 09/08/2014 20:58

I started pushing the nap later and later until it was just after lunch. sometimes lunch was 11/11.30 and nap 12/12.30ish.

sososotired · 10/08/2014 06:18

We have snak at 10ish then a nap and lunch at 12:45 i give him some time to wake up and mooch around before we eat! :)

lolalotta · 10/08/2014 06:27

My very nearly 12 month oldies just in the process of dropping her 40min nap she used to have at 9.00am... She now has an early lunch and sleeps from 12.00pm-2.15pm on a good day and is ready to sleep at 6.00pm. Good luck!

eagle2010 · 10/08/2014 19:00

Well today I didn't put DS down until 10.15 and he slept for 2 hours 10 minutes! Absolutely refused an afternoon nap and was ready for bed at 6.45.

And so a new chapter begins! Thanks for the replies :)

Mine is almost 12 months and had one nap today for the first time. He is now fast asleep at 'normal' bedtime - bliss!

rootypig · 10/08/2014 19:18

ah I was going to say what you've worked out - put him down later, he'll sleep longer!
