Do you make sure your toddlers get this? Or even the new 7? I try really hard but some days it just doesn't happen

Mine have 7 most days. I give fruit at each meal and as a snack, salad stuff with lunch and veg with their dinner.

Today was blueberries & pineapple with breakfast
Cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers with lunch
Raisins for snack
Dinner was bolognese with carrots, onions, courgettes, tinned tomatoes, mushrooms.

Don't forget things like tinned tomato's & onions count! Mine are 22 months.

Yep I think so.

X2 Fruit or veg with breakfast.
Ie porridge with banana and blueberries, or poached egg, mushrooms, beans and tomatoes.

X2 veg and x1 fruit lunch most days. Today salmon with broccoli, green beans, and rice pudding with pear purée

X2 veg dinner, maybe some fruit for desert if having. Will be mushroom, bacon and broad bean risotto this eve.

I think so for our 3.5yo. Apple for breakfast. Grapes for morning snack. Two veg in lunch plus fruit for pudding. Banana and smoothie for afternoon snack. Cucumber with tea plus fruit for pudding (in a variety of forms). So eight most days. It is too fruit heavy (5:3) but fruit is easier and we will make the switch to veg for one snack eventually bringing us to 4:4.

Thanks for your replies. Most days I achieve this for DD 21mo as both snacks are fruit (1 dried) and she has fruit for both deserts. Veg wise she has salad with her tea (tom or cucumber) and vegetables with her lunch, 1-3 depending on what it is. I think this is fruit heavy, but I 4:2 on most days, but I can't get her interested in raw vegetables for snacks. One day...

I am good at getting veg into her meals and she's more than happy to eat it, but any vegetable snack ideas that you can get in your children would be gratefully received!

Not every day, but most. DS is a much better eater at nursery than at home, so he probably does do it on nursery days (he goes 4 days a week), home days he probably gets more like 3-4 portions as he won't really eat fruit at home. I do keep trying, and I think there is a tiny bit too much 'stress' at times over the 5 a day thing. We probably only ate 1-2 a day in the 80's and seem to have survived. That's not a reason NOT to offer an excellent diet for DC, but it's enough for me not to worry unduly about it all.
