This has worked wonders for me to get my 3 y o to remember how to do certain things. I have made a list and stuck it up on the wall in the toilet (has just started using toilet independently but forgets all the things he is meant to do). He can't read so I have drawn pictures next to the different items which are:

wipe yourself (drawing of toilet roll)
pull up your pants and trousers
put the seat down
wash your hands
shut the door (nb yes I am a bit anal about this but otherwise it is left wide open and blocks out all the light into the hall)

This has been very effective for us this week and he is proud that he can 'read' the list and remember what to do. I think it could work well for other jobs such as room tidying, getting ready to go out etc (put on your shoes, go to the loo, get your coat and so on). Am now wondering if it would work for dps....

Definitely worth trying on DPs, lol.

I dislike reward / punishment based behavioural techniques Jimjams. This isn't.

Erm it was meant to be a jolly joke F&Z, never mind! The last time I heard it mentioned formally was by an ABA proivider. Personally I think its a brilliant technique, we use it all the time, was just suprised to see the same technique mentioned by some so ant behaviourismi.

Anyway supporting materials . (the travel schedule board is fab, we use it all over the place, in fact we have several, some on the wall, some to go out with us).

There's a difference between behavioural and behaviourist, isn't there?

I think its a lovely idea, I dont think it matters whether experts have a label for it already.

Whenever I see PECS, I think of pecs

F&Z - you know what I can't be bothered, I meant it as joke.

Filly- do you mean the PECS stuff- not just for non-verbal kids- can be used anywhere its needed to be. In fact I noticed that ds2's classroom is full of PECS cards, and there are no children with SN in his classroom. They use it a lot for timetabling and scheduling I think. loads of freebies here .

I think of those sweeties with the animals with the lift up heads. What are they called? Aaargh its bugging me.

Greensleeves (i will stop typing your whole name out eventually but I love it!) is spelt differently so there must be a difference.

I forgot how good dotolearn was. Their toilet cards I've been looking for a peeing standing one up everywhere- fab!
