4 month old started crying when offered bottle. Teething?

We have a gorgeous 4 1/2 month old who until this week was the best behaved baby ever - great naps, sleeping through the night etc. This week she's become more unsettled, sleeps much less well, is chewing her fist constantly and, weirdly, has gone from eagerly downing big bottles to really crying when she starts sucking on the bottle. We've found that we have to get her almost asleep, using a dummy, and then putting the bottle in. She'll drink a bit, then cry/get uncomfortable, and we have to use the dummy again... It can take ages. Other than that she's incredibly happy and cheery. Could it be teething? She also swipes at her ear a bit, which I thought was a sign of tiredness initially, but now I'm wondering if it's teething. thanks,

Swiping her ear can be a sign of earache. With that and the sudden change, I'd be inclined to take her to the GP on Monday.

Have you tried changing the teat on the bottle to a faster flow? It might just be too slow for her as she has gotten bigger.

But with the ear swiping thing I would nip to the doctors. It could be nothing but best to get it checked out just in case.

Sounds like either teething or ear ache. Any sign of a fever??

Mine DSs teeth came at 20 and 20+3 weeks so not too early.

Try some teething powders!

My baby did exactly the same thing for about a month and it was very stressful for him and for me!
He is now 5.5 months and has two front teeth and went back to the bottles again with no problem. I found yang as soon as he started refusing the bottle I took it away straight away as it was clearly causing pain.
My great help was teetha powder every two hours really helped. Goodluck
