5 week old ds can roll over [shock]

My ds is 5 weeks old and was actually born 2 weeks early (so really only 3 weeks) and tonight he rolled from on his tummy onto his back!?!

T can't really remeber from my dd who is now 2YO, but this is early to be doing this surely? He was born @ 38 weeks weighing 9lb 6oz so is a big baby but 5 weeks?? OMG! lol, he has really good head control too.

Oh and it definately not a fluke as he did it twice while on the floor.

My ds2 rolled very early too. About 7wks IIRC.

He was an early crawler, walker too fwiw.

dd3 crawled at 8 weeks

she can make it across her mat now at 4 months

she is WEENY but extra strong

CJinSussex · 14/09/2006 23:40

DS1 rolled over every night from 2 weeks old and slept face down. We'd put him in the feet-to-foot position - religiously as sisters DD1 died of SIDS - and he'd roll straight over. He then crawled and walked early too.

The DDs never did this. And they didn't walk until they were nearly 18 months [yawn emoticon].

I had one like this too - like CJinSussex's he always seemed to prefer being on his tummy and you just couldn't keep him sleeping on his back once he'd learnt to flip himslef over.

As the others have said expect yours to crawl/stand/walk early as well - I've got pics of ds standing supporting his own weight at less than 4 months!

lemonaid · 15/09/2006 15:10

Yes, it's early. Clearly a genius (though you knew that already, right?)

DS didn't roll until 10 weeks but like LunarSea's DS we have photos of him standing supporting own weight at 3.5 months. Eventually walked at 9.5 months, ran at 9.5 months and five minutes, started throwing himself off high objects at 9.5 months and ten minutes and has continued in much the same vein ever since...

Flamesparrow · 15/09/2006 15:12

Was it yours who was legging it off the bed Enid?

MrsDoolittle · 15/09/2006 15:17

Dd was the last to do everything. So is so careful she wouldn't do anything until she was 110% sure.
Now ds is the opposite. He rolled over at a few weeks, refused to sleep on his back and is already trying to feed himself at 7 months

I am constantly surprised by both of them
