Bloody screaming!!!

Please!!! Can anyone tell me why the screaming would b there one day or for however many days in a row but then nothing at all for days in end or even a few weeks?????

Surely if it were her "finding her voice" she's be doing it all the time?

Surely if it were teething then Ambesol and/or Calpol would help?

It is ear piercing shrieking screams!!!!

I just find it so damned hard to cope with!!!?

Is she screaming because she can or because she's in pain.
It can be horrendous if they don't stop. It might be worth popping her to your gp or h/v and tell them.
It's tough. Can you have a break for quiet time. Will a friend have her for an hour.

No one can tell me why. Not my GP or even the Paedeatrician. My HV is, sad to say, useless!

There are times I think its teething related as there'll b all the other usual teething signs but then, as I say, Ambesol and/or Calpol seem 2 do nothing.

There are other times I think its because she's over tired but then if that were the reason then she'd surely do it all the time she's overtired and not sometimes stop for a few weeks or so.

After the paedeatrician couldn't tell me why I realised I would have to 'let it go' and try and accept that I'll never know. But am finding it soooooo hard to do so!

I hate to think she may be in pain and I'm missing something! Not to mention from a selfish point of view it's really hard to live with.

How old is your DD, Taler?

Does she seem cross or upset when she is screaming, or is she quite calm and curious when she's doing it?

Is it random or is it at specific times of the day, or related to particular situations?

She is 9 months old.

She's been doing this for many months and I've never been able to see a pattern. If I think there might be one in proved wrong soon after.

There are times when she does seem angry when she's doing it but other times her facial expressions are 'normal' and she seems otherwise content.

She can scream whilst playing, sat in her highchair, being held, being changed, there is no obvious pattern sadly :(

It seems like it's just her current preferred method of communication, unfortunately.

Does she babble as well? Could you try baby signing to see if being able to communicate a bit more might help?

I'm just not convinced though as she's been doing it for months! She does babble too and I had hoped that since starting to now babble properly she'd stop the screaming but no such joy!

I would honestly think that she is doing it because it is interesting, fun, habit, etc. I am sure it will reduce as the babbling becomes meaningful. 12 months is so different from 9 months, and she will understand a lot more about what's going on around her. I know that's not too much help to you now!

All you can do I suppose is grit your teeth and try and let it wash over you. Does she do it when you are talking/singing to her?

Singing no, talking sometimes.
My DH whistles when she screams as that seems to stop it.
But you can't sing/whistle all day can you...?

Well I reckon I did do a lot of singing and talking when ds was that age! Still do really!
