just a quickie, when do babies normally start sitting up by themselves? My six month old isnt yet you see but she is rolling everywhere and will bear weight on her legs. I expected her to be sitting up by herself by now. Was I being optimistic?

They're all different. Mine all did it at around 6 months but they're beanbag shaped babies. They kind of spread out across the floor

They all do it at different ages. Mine were all about 6 months.
If you think yours is interested you could try supporting her back with lots of cushions and then reduce the amount of support given as she learns to hold herself and keep her balance.
If she just sags hopelessly and rolls over then she isn't quite ready yet.

Om I'll givee the cushion idea a go. Thanks.

My DS2 was bearing weight but didn't sit up by himself until 8 months. I also used to support him with cushions. BTW he is walking at 12 months.

Mine are similar shapes to SoupDragon's, and are about the same time. My cousin's little man was nearly 8 months last time I saw him though, and he wasn't anywhere near sitting.

So they really are all different then and develop at their own rates. Its true.
