Has your child been referred to a psychiatrist when you think they need a psychologist?

I'm not going to go into detail here, as I've posted about my ds before and it has been a long journey to get to where we are now. I have an appt with a psychiatrist for him. I phoned to query this and they said he had been lined up for psychologists but a psychiatrist had intercepted it. They said if I want to insist on psychologists it would mean another 4 months' wait. I intend to take him along but decline medication as I really don't think that's what he needs.

Any thoughts anyone?
