1yo DS with temper tantrums! Help!

Can anyone help? My 1yo DS has always had a bit of a temper but suddenly he's started having full blown tantrums.

Most of the time I've managed to eliminate the obv - hungry / tired / nappy change etc but there are times when he just screams for no reason I can see :(

He's my 2nd DS so is trying to do things his 2.5yo bro is doing, he was crawling at 6mo, cruising at 9mo and walking at 11mo. So I can understand if he's frustrated...

He's too young to understand time outs / naughty step etc but he does know 'No'. Any suggestions on how to diffuse a screaming fit and calm him down??

My 1 year old Dd is the same, trying to copy her sister and gets really frustrated when she can't do something. Full on tantrums, throwing whatever is in her hand screaming and crying.

I'm using the distraction method at the moment, removing her from whatever is frustrating her and giving her something else to do and it's working so far. I'm not sure what else to suggest but I'm sure someone wise will be along soon to tell us Smile

Thanks, at the moment I'm using the distraction method and moving him away from the situation.

But sometimes that doesn't seem to work and he just seems angry for no reason! It must be because he can't tell me what's wrong but I've no idea how to get him to explain :(

I could have written the same post!! my son is 16 months and is having terrible tantrums at times...like a bottle of pop. He has also had a temper from birth. At the moment i simply say no and either ignore or distract but it is very waring and yesterday one went on for over an hour...i dont always no what it is either. Mine is like jekyll and hyde and when i am out i find it the most emabarrassing...i feel your pain and keep looking for a solution myself but accepting that this is just how he is for now..but hope it will get better. My husband says to remember he is just probably frustrated and unable to communicate or control his feelings. Saying that there are times my patience is very tested!!!!x
