Teething Hell!

Help! My almost 1 year old is teething sooo badly I need some tricks/tips/reassurance! He got his first teeth (bottom 2 middle ones) at 9 months without any fuss and then no more teeth until now. He has 5 coming through on the top. 3 have broken through but it looks like the middle 2 are coming too. He's utterly miserable, constant crying or whinging, literally not eating a thing and only have a bit of milk. He is also waking up every hour. So he's utterly miserable!

I've tried all the usual over the counter remedies including Nurofen, Calpol, dentonx, calgel, bongela, granulas and nothing seems to help much. Distraction is limited, dummy gets thrown out too.

Anyone got any other ideas???

Worked for both of mine.

Unfortunately nothing really works 100% but I would stick with calpol and nurofen I always found nurofen at bedtime was better than calpol. But you can use the two together alternating them so there is always something working on the pain just stick with the doseage amount and time intervals for each drug IYSWIM. Anbesol products are also good they do a gel and a liquid, the liquid is excellent if you can get your hands on it, I order online. You can put the liquid exactly where it needs to go

I have to disagree with Ashton & parsons didn't work for either of mine, but every baby's different. Hope your LO gets some relief soon x

Make sure ambesol does not contain aspirin as this causes Reye's syndrome in children under 12

I found the anbesol liquid better than the gel to ensure it got to the right bit & not just disappear down their throat.

I have to admit & am thoroughly expecting to get flamed for it but I was recommended by a friend to use a preparation with diphenhydramine hydrochloride in it to help ds get a bit of sleep. Unfortunately she recommended it after he'd been up all night screaming whilst his incisors broke through! We used it for others later on & it does work.
