.......screamed ds tonight as I beat him at snakes and ladders. He was winning, but had unfortunatle luck and ended up going down 3 consecutive snakes, so I was laughing.

He had a real paddy, jumped up and down on teh box and stormed off to bed saying he's never playing with me again, and I'm a rubbish singer apparantly!

Sigh. How do you stop them being a bad loser?

He's 4 btw and started school this week.

I'm Sorry shouldn't laugh but My ds1 also 4 and started this week and is being TOTALLY unreasonable ( god forbid you go into a lift before he has gone in and pushed the "keep doors open button") lets just hope to all that is good that it is a passing phase!

You have to keep at it - keep beating them (let them win the odd time too so they don't get completely disheartened). Ds1 was such a bad loser, he's very competitive (mmmm...can't think where he gets that from) but we kept hammering him at everything from dominos to snakes and ladders to the shopping list game and he's kind of alright now (though he did have a little grumble at Christmas when I beat him at Star Wars Trivial Pursuit).

And I'll tell you why you have to do this. If you do not they will end up like my Dad who, aged 60+, once threw the Trivial Pursuit board across the room and stormed off in a strop because he reckoned his questions were harder than everyone else's.

I find DD reacts worse if it is an adult, such as me, DH or a grandparent, who beats her at a game, than when it is a friend her own age. She seems to not mind if it is a friend.
