breastfeeding - bottle/teat recommendations for 11 week old?

Hi. I've been breastfeeding solely for 11 weeks and want to start expressing some milk and giving a bottle once a day or so, but DS didn't seem to take to the Avent bottle/teat I was using. Does anyone have any recommendations for bottles/teats that suit breastfed babies particularly well? Or have I just left it too late, or should I just persevere?

Thanks!

Definitely not too late we start ds at about 12 weeks. We love the heberman feeder which was recommended by a friend who is a midwife. Quite expensive but well worth it for us as ds will not take any other teat! Little Monkey!! The feeder has a valve system which means the milk will only come out when they are sucking... the milk doesn't shoot down their throat as soon as you turn up the bottle which our ds hates! Keep trying our ds still sometimes fusses a bit when given the bottle, he prefers the snuggles that go with breast feeding i think but dh loves being able to give him a bottle and i love the break

dd hated Avent, but loved Medela and NUK, which have shaped (orthodontic) soft teats. And my nephew went on to bottles at around 12 weeks using NUK, having flatly refused Avent, too.
I've also heard that the Habermann (sp?) Feeder can be useful with babies who really hate all other bottles.
Good luck!

Thanks. Do you know which is better - latex or silicone? Finding all the choices v v confusing - breastfeeding is much easier in that way - no 'range' or choices to be made...

My DD is 10 weeks and loves mummy's boob so is also a little monkey about taking the odd feed of from a bottle. The Tommee Tippee "Closer to Nature" bottle seems to have done the trick though (£7.99 for 3 from Mothercare) so is a cheaper alternative to the Habermann bottle.

You could try MAM ULTIvent teats, they will fit your avent bottle.

Would def recommend MAM teats on Avent bottles. MAM teats are (apparently they act more like a nipple as baby has to "chomp" on them to get milk like they would with your nipple). DS wouldn't have any other teat

Tesco have the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles on half price at the moment which is a good deal because unlike mam etc you can't just buy the teats because the whole bottle is different. I tried every bottle with ds when he was tiny but this was the only one he took to because they can really latch onto it (it's kind of boob shaped!)

My dd is 9 weeks old and we started using the avent 'for breastfed babies' teets. I was using the no 1 size (I didn't even know that they came in different sizes!!) from about 5 weeks and found problems about 6.5 weeks with this one. The HV advised moving up to size 2 as bm is thicker than formulae and I cant believe it - she loves it much, to dh delight!

I would start on the second size but if not taking enough, then go the next size up.

Good Luck!
