Hi moomin don't let the slebs who are tummy tucked straight away make you feel inadequate. We have a postnatal thread in weight loss chat if you want to join us, no crash diets, just trying to make good choices. I've given myself a target of 6 months after giving birth to be back to a good weight for me, but I have a significant birthday then which is forcing the issue a little.

Misty9 · 01/07/2014 09:05

I fitted back into pre pregnancy jeans this week, 10 weeks post birth however my bottom and thighs evidently grew so had to chuck those...

I found my body shape changed after my first though, with wider hips if that was possible although I ended up the lightest I've ever been about one year into breastfeeding ds.

callamia · 01/07/2014 09:12

My body shape has changed too. I was pre-preg weight about four months after birth, but I didn't really Pitt on very much. I'm now half a stone less, but with spindly as and legs, and no bum. I used to have a bum...
I think breastfeeding has seen to most of my weight loss., and I pretty much fear giving up and becoming huge. There needs to be some cake/bf ratio change...

Catsmamma · 01/07/2014 09:13

welllll...ds1 will be 23 this year.......

pines for size ten figure

eagle2010 · 01/07/2014 09:42

Sigh, mine's still hanging around 9mo later. I did put on a spectacular 5 stone though (and DS was only 7lbs 10!)

I've about another stone to lose now but zero has shifted in the last month or so. I also feel like my hips have become wider and will never be the same!

LabradorMama · 01/07/2014 09:47

eagle That is pretty spectacular! My sister put on 4 stone, I thought that was impressive! Sadly she is one of those who was back in a size 10 6 weeks later, ugh.

Unlike me, I'm 9m post partum and am just back to pre-preg weight but my body has completely changed shape. I've got lots of fat and cellulite on my thighs and bum and even my arms are bigger. My tummy is the worst though, like a soft pouch just stuck on at the front. It's so depressing Sad

eagle2010 · 01/07/2014 10:24

Ugh, those people really depress me labradormama !

I thought that BFing would help shift the weight and I did drop the first 4 (!!!) stone quite easily but I've heard the last bit is hard to lose when you're still feeding.

I'd like to have another baby soon enough too so I figure that maybe I'll just get humungously large and then I'll work super hard to get rid of it :)

eagle2010 · 01/07/2014 10:26

Oh and by the way, there are some great online sites for postpartum core work - I did a lot of strength training prepregancy - check out Cassandra Forsyte and the JillFit website for some tips. Some of them you have to pay for but there's general info available too.

3 weeks later. Only due to morning sickness and major anxiety after he was born that reduced my appetite to nil.

CroydonFacelift · 01/07/2014 10:30

I lost it very slowly with my first. Put on 4 stone. A stone came off after birth. Another stone slowly over 6 months. Then another stone ver the next year. I never lost the final stone, but I was scrawny to begin with so that was fine.

Second baby was easier, as only put on 2.5 stone, but still slow. Took a year to get back to pre-preg weight.

In fairness, I didnt diet or do much exercise! Prob couldve lost it more quickly if I had, but it wasnt my priority at all.

walde · 01/07/2014 10:44

Do you think that's true about celebs having tummy tucks? I reckon those skinny celeb types are probably just naturally slim so the weight drops off or they do lots of exercise. Surely a tummy tuck when your uterus is still massive wouldn't work?!

I lost the weight very quickly with my first and so did my Mum and sisters. I think it's just one of those things that is genetic.

beccajoh · 01/07/2014 10:52

I didn't actually put much weight on during with of my pregnancies. Both times I was only 3-4kg above my start weight after they were born. DD was breastfed and I couldn't lose the weight whilst I was feeding. I stopped at 7 months and the excess weight was gone within a month. I was pregnant again a month after that Blush DS was FF after the first two weeks, and again the weight was gone within a couple of months. Both times it was more a case of waiting for my tummy to go back down so I could fit back in my jeans.

I am a different shape now, more muffin top and my boobs are smaller (that's actually a good thing!)

beccajoh · 01/07/2014 10:54

The lack of weight gain was just sheer luck. I can't claim any credit!

eagle2010 · 01/07/2014 10:58

I don't know about celebs and tummy tucks - my tummy isn't too bad really, it's more my arms and hips and muffin top area.

Sometimes those celebs don't put on a huge amount of weight to begin with which has to help!

My aunt is a theatre nurse and some of the surgeons she works with have been known to give a "helpful stitch" or two to ladies after c sections to help the tummy muscles knit back together! Possibly celebs have a bit of that going on :)

Funkytown · 01/07/2014 11:02

Took 12 days to get back to pre pregnancy weight but I didn't have a flat tummy and wasn't skinny before hand lol so I got back into my clothes with in two weeks and weight was litterally all baby but I still need control pants to suck my belly in and flowy tops are used regularly in the house

Cariad007 · 01/07/2014 15:48

I was back in my regular clothes within a week or two of giving birth, but I only put on about 5kg in total and nearly 4 of that was baby. I now weigh less than I did before I got pregnant as DS is always hungry and I feed him on demand!

hartmel · 03/07/2014 03:57

Basically straight after birth.. A week later after DS was born I was wearing size 9/10 before that I was in a size 16. So lost a lot after birth..

Now 9 month later I'm 24 weeks pregnant with DC2 and I'm still in size 9/10

MiaSparrow · 03/07/2014 07:56

I lost mine almost immediately except for the flabby belly, and I remember feeling frustrated about that - but that went as soon as DD was on the go and I was jumping up every 30 seconds to catch her, so really, a proper 6-8 months to get completely back to normal.
