9 month check

Hi, my dd has her 9 month check with HV next week and I'm a bit worried about what to expect. No real concerns about her just a bit worried as shes not yet crawling... What do they check and will there be a follow up due to her not crawling? X

Is this is the UK? We haven't had one (oops) ds will be 1 next week ...

Never had a 9 month check. We had a 1 year check (lockie we had to book ours in ourselves, you might want to check with your GP if you need to book in!)

Lots of babies don't crawl. I expect they'll just want to see some sort of mobility by age 1.

I never had a 9month check and ds is nearly 11 months. He commando crawled until 9.5 months then just started crawling properly all of a sudden the same time as he started cruising around the furniture.
Some babies don't crawl or crawl for a tiny amount of time then walk. I wouldn't worry about it.

DD has had her 8/9 month review. (I'm in Wales, if that makes a difference?). She was 7 and a half months at the time and nearly crawling and the hv said that was fine. she also gave her some blocks to see what she does with the. she wanted to see if she could bang them together, bring them to her mouth.

She also asked if she was babbling, how was she eating/drinking. then she was weighed and measured. I was given some nice books and a doidy cup.

I'm a student HV. At 9 months we check that the baby can sit unaided, roll or move about in some way, babble, smile, use their hands to pick up toys, and weight bear with support. We wouldn't worry about babies not crawling at 9mo as long as they're moving themselves about in some way, by rolling for example. At dd2's 9 month check she wasn't even rolling never mind crawling but she caterpillared around on her back so my HV was happy Grin

He or she may ask you how she's getting along with lumpy food and finger foods, how she's sleeping and how you are feeling too Smile

I wouldn't worry my ds nearly moved until a year old then walked rolled and sat all in a few days. My daughter however has been fully crawling for about 4 weeks and now cruising but is only 7 months x all babies are totally different I wouldn't worry x Grin
