My 3 1/2 year old started sobbing today for no apparent reason :( something he never does! He can have tantrums a cry when he doesn't get his way but this was different it was a proper 'very upset by something cry'
This last for 5-10 mins and he got very clingy then later on in the day it happened again .

He's starting with a cold but otherwise he's very healthy hardly ever been to the doctors and avoided most infections , doesn't normally bother him when he has even bad colds ! Any ideas please ??

Ah Sad Don't worry...I remember my DD1 doing this one day on the bus! She was also three and was with DH and sitting there and suddenly began sobbing as you describe for no reason at all!

Don't fret about it....they're growing and changing so much and it's nothing but that they get overwhelmed with things...overtired is often a reason. x

I think at this age they find it hard to express themselves and sometimes think about things you wouldnt think of. They start to feel sympathy a lot at this age too espec when tired.. I remember my nephew saying 'I was sad because Jack hasnt got a brother to play with at home' :)

Ds has recently started doing this too, more so when tired. It makes my heart physically ache. I too think they're overwhelmed with feelings and emotions they can't describe. They're little worry warts and just need to get it out and have a lovely long cuddle.

My dd1 dies thus when she has run out of energy. She gets v sensitive all of a sudden. A big of food and she is as right as rain again
