Head/Face slapping

I just wanted some advice really. My little DD who is 17 months old always slaps herself in the face or round the head. Sometimes its when I tell her off or when she gets excited.....

Has anyone elses little ones done this as my DH doesnt think this is natural.

My 5 year old would hit himself aroung the head sometimes if very frustrated. I've talked to him about how he shouldnt hurt himself when snnoyed, but I'm hoping its a phase he@ll grow out of.
