Help - baby unsettled at bedtime

Over the last week or so, my 7 month old DS has been so unsettled at night. He'll take a bottle and then fall asleep, usually on DH and then we put him in his cot. He then wakes up about 15 minutes later and eventually takes more milk but just won't settle - screaming, crying, thrashing legs and arms etc. The last 3 nights we've given him calpol as we assumed it was teething pain which settled him, but I can't understand why the pain is only at bedtime. He's not like this at all during the day. I really don't like to give him calpol unnecessarily but felt he needed it. Has this happened to anyone else when teeth have been on their way? He used to be brilliant at bedtime - bath, bottle, bed and didn't stir until the dream feed. It feels like we're all over the place at the moment. Thanks xx

If calpol helps then that proves he is in pain and calpol is the right thing to do.

my DD has often been happy all day only for the teething pain to kick in once she goes to bed - I think it's because there is nothing to distract her, also because she's tired and wants to sleep but the discomfort is preventing her. hope that makes sense.
