19mo not eaten any dinner, wanted bed instead

Our 19mo is usually a great eater and sleep refuser. This evening he cried and cried instead of eating so we cuddled him and asked if he was tired/wanted bed, he said yes! So DP is putting him to bed. What do we do - will he wake in the night hungry? Wake really early, hungry? Maybe he's teething but he has never been fussy with his teeth before. Anyone had something like this happen to them?!

It might be that he's coming down with something, in which case bed is the best place for him.

Mine were still having milk in the early morning at that stage (too bloody early sometimes, but that's another story...)
