5 months old constantly flipping on her front

I am sure this is really normal but still need some reassurance. My 5mobths old DD recently mastered turning from her back to her front. Now she seems tone addicted to doing it that she even does it in her bed. She hates being on her front though and has only managed to flip back once. Just now I found her sleeping on her front in my bed to where she flipped over from the cosleeper. Is it ok to let her sleep on her front at 5 months? Feeling like a neurotic mum..

My first daughter did this I used to be up and down all night turning her onto her back.... In the end I just gave up and let her sleep on her front as she was clearly happy that way... She was also 5 months I wouldn't have done any younger

My seven mo was just the same. He used to wake himself up countless times by turning into his front, and getting up onto all fours in his sleep. It was exhausting.

From a safety point if view, it's fine. If she's strong enough to turn that way voluntarily, then she can move her head and body to keep herself ok while she sleeps. Is she ok on your bed? Is there a guard on your co sleeper to stop her from rolling off while you're not in bed?

Our rolling and waking problems improved after a few weeks. He now sleeps mainly on his side or front.

Once they can turn over it's fine. Honestly. It's just when they can't it's sooooooooo important they sleep on their backs.

It's fine - HV all say if they can roll over onto front they are ok to then sleep there

Thanks for your messages. We are actually going to swap her into a cot tomorrow, I am just not happy that she can flip over onto my bed.. Just now she has changed on her side again and seems to be happy. I don't blame her, I like sleeping on my side too.. Oh it's just a phase...

I could literally write your post this week! My DS was 5months on Tuesday and mastered rolling over last Sunday. He hates being on his front for longer than 10mins but hasn't been able to go back onto his back. I'm terrified he's going to suffocate or something in his cot!

Sorry that isn't very helpful but would like to hear the answers people give you Smile
