20 week old less vocal and smiley than 3 weeks ago

I just wondered if anyone had any experience of this. My dd is 20 weeks and until about 2 1/2 -3 weeks ago was starting to become very vocal and almost chatting to us although has never giggled. Over the last 2 or 3 weeks she has been very quiet and hasn't been smiling as much. I am a first time mum and a bit neurotic I admit but very concerned that she seems to be regressing... Am going to chat to health visitor about it tomorrow, my mum and husband tell me I am being ridiculous but I keep wondering if she has got a some sort of delayed development

Teething? No other ideas.

Is she chewing objects/hands a lot and drooling? Then I'd say teething and teething pain.

If that doesn't ring a bell, go and see GP or HV to allay your fears.

Perhaps she is beginning to teethe. They get very pre occupied, and then cross. Does she have slightly red cheeks or more drool? Does she seem to like chewing on something more than usual?

I thought teething too or maybe start of a cold? How is littles one's sleeping is that the same?
I would and have always spoken to Hv about any concerns give them a call they are there to help

Learning to crawl? My DS pretty much stopped babbling when he was working on moving. Now he can crawl and stand, his voice has returned, and he laughs a lot. He has always clearly focused on one thing at a time. Sometimes it seems like a 'regression', but it's more like a temporary holding while working on something new.

She is sticking everything in her mouth and does have a bit of a bulge in her gum, lots of dribble but no red cheeks, doesn't seem particularly grizzly or unhappy though... Really hope this is the case as made the mistake of googling her signs and symptoms and have frightened myself silly!

My ds has recently been through a quiet phase and we have seen a big change in him in the past week - more coordinated grabbing things, examines everything closely rather than shoving it in his mouth, trying to roll etc and he's also teething. He's starting to find his voice again now but I think he was just really busy developing.

My DD wasn't unhappy teething. Just busy chewing anything she could grab and drooling. She wasn't babbling as much because she was busy chewing.

She got her first tooth at 21 weeks.

Just to update I have spoken to health visitor who has advised I come to end of clinic next week for a development check (dd also not rolling but is trying to sit all the time) and also see gp in meantime to do a health check. fingers crossed I am just neurotic but if it's anything else best to find out and get help early I guess

Feeling a bit stupid but very relieved, after ringing health visitor dd woke from nap in a very chatty mood and has hardly stopped squealing and cooing all afternoon with her granny who is clearly more exciting than boring mummy, also got semblance of a giggle after touching granny's dog! Long may it last is all I can say- thanks for all the support and reassurance!
