Typical boy, rough play with toys, they get broke. What riles me is a pair of shoes lasts 2 weeks before a hole in them where he 's dragged his feet - annoying and expensive.

Kids can be very destructive. If he breaks his toys, don't replace them. He can learn to be more careful. The shoes are more difficult. Can you repair them or buy cheap shoes since they're not going to last anyway? If he gets pocket money, take some of it towards new shoes or make him do extra chores to earn them.

My 6yo would struggle to have the maturity to do that. Do you get on his case when he drags his shoes?

I made my 8yo wear shoes to school with a giant hole in them for 8 weeks. Finally cured his dragging shoes habit, I was very fed up with it. But my 6yos wouldn't understand.

I only buy cheap shoes now, he knows not to, he gets pocket money so I'll try that. Just seen his school shoes are going the same way - grrrr
