Hi all new to this!! My 4 yo son has never really been a great eater! He was breastfed till 9 months and started solids at 4 months, since he was around 3 (coincidentally his brother was born at same time, but I really don't think this is the reason) he has slowly made the list items of food he will eat smaller and smaller.... To the point where now he will only eat bread, nuggets, and pizza!!!! And even then I have to constantly tell him to chew and swallow! Else he keeps the food in his mouth chewed to a pulp so long he starts gagging and then won't eat anything else!! I'm at my wits end!!! His relationship with his brother is absolutely fine and always has been, he dotes on him and I have always made sure I tell him he's beautiful/special/loved/clever a million times a day, I cuddle him and play with him, I read to him, I talk to him and answer all his questions honestly .... I don't know what to do????

Are you me??? Shock
Mine is not quite four yet, but pizza and bread is pretty much all he will eat at the moment. He refuses everything that is served up. Happy to have bits of fruit during the day (although now refusing fruits he previously liked), yogurts etc but that's it.

He's always been fairly fussy, but it's getting ridiculous now. Have treated him no differently than older DC who is a good eater. We've tried ignoring and taking food away without a fuss, withdrawal of treats, reasoning with him and nothing works. Don't get me started on offering it up 20 times before he'll accept it. Been there, done it. Not worked.

Don't have any answers for you but will be watching thread with interest.

Good luck with HV. Hope she has some pearls of wisdom.

I'm hoping it's a control thing and that DS will grow out of it, but if it goes on much longer will probably try to seek help.

Don't know much about the procedure for a referral to a dietician but might push for that if no improvement soon.

It's a worry isn't it? Sad
