Nap advice please

My ds is 16 months old (almost). He was good at napping and would go down with his bottle of milk in the afternoon. This meant sleeping until 3pm and he'd be difficult to get to sleep at 7pm.
Recently he seems to have dropped his nap all together. I have tried lots of different things to try to tempt him to nap. He looks exhausted and we've had 2 attempts at nap time today with no luck.

Is it normal for a 16 month old to drop his nap? I'm 25+5 weeks pregnant with ds2 (I could do with the nap myself!!)

Any tips would be much appreciated!

what was going wrong with today's nap time? Was it just that he cried until you went in to him?

He doesn't cry, he drinks his milk and then sits and "talks" to himself and I can hear him giggling. I go in, lie him down and put his dummy in and leave but he just sits up and chat away.
I've left him for an hour and he's still wide awake (when I say I leave, I do pop in and lie him down but don't interact with him).
