Ds has never been a great sleeper but he had finally settled into a routine recently and was doing great. Now for 4 nights in a row he has woken up with nightmares, very upset, takes quite a while to calm him down. There have been no changes or upheavals although I am 6 months pg. Any ideas would be appreciated.

he jw..is it nightmares or night terrors?..there is a difference..which i found out recently..ds1 has suffered with night terrors since 3 and still gets them..he is now 6..with night terrors he will open his eyes, screaming and crying and rubbing his head and eyes..he's not conscious of those around him..altho we do our best to calm him down..he doesn't know we are there..so it can be struggle to get him down again.a night terror usually lasts anything between 5 and 10 min..i know others mums have posted on here before abt nightmares and terrors..doing an archive search will provide you with some relevant threads.

Does he remember in the morning? if not then the chances are they are night terrors.
Is he recently stated any medication? My sister used to have night terrore when she was younger every time she had Benelyn cough mixture.

Good point. My father has night terrors so maybe that's it. We questioned him this morning and he remembered dh coming in and singing to him but he couldn't tell us why he woke up. Two nights ago it took about 20 minutes to calm him down.
