Hi looking for some advise please. My 14 month old has always been a handful with a short fuse and little patience. He was improving last month but is still abit like Jekyll and Hyde- he now suddenly gets cross for no apparent reason...as just wonder is this normal or could there be an underlying problem with his personality further down the line...probably just being paranoid but i do worry as he is so less tolerant then all other children i know the same age? He has in the last week started to get very cross behaving like the terrible twos....shouting and throwing things at the flip of a hat--is that normal at this age as i thought he was too young for this behaviour? I feel so emabarressed when out and about of other people seeing this and feel i cant control him. I try to ignore or distract this behavour but am unsure what else to do? Thanks.

You really can't tell the personality of a child by how they behaved as a baby. Getting cross easily, throwing things, whining are all normal behaviour. Is he getting enough food and sleep as these things can affect mood? Is he teething as being in pain can make them grumpy? Does he want to be outside? Does he want to be walking? Is he just pissed off that he is too small to do what he wants to do?

Terrible twos is just an easy label for the awful behaviour that starts with them wanting to assert their independence.
