another cot to bed question

DD is just about to turn 2. We have been delaying moving her into a bed until after we have our holiday in early October, but this last week she is starting to try and climb on the rails of the cot. She's not succeeded in getting out yet but I don't want her to hurt herself. I would rather she had a cot on holiday if possible as I dont want her wandering around our room all night. What do you think about changing her to a bed now. Would she still accept a cot on holiday if I did give her a bed here now and would that be dangerous if she is climbing. I'm thinking if we did move her before she works out how to climb out she may not climb out on holiday then. Perhaps I am just being too hopeful though!

when i moved my dd1 out of her cot to a bed i used a bedguard. she hardly even noticed it was not a cot, and didnt try to escape! she was about 20 months at the time

It all depends how good a sleeper dd is. Our DD was out o her cot at 2 but our DS aged 2.5 is only just coming out now. He has never been great about going to sleep as he sits up and "reads" sometimes until nearly 10 at night (In the dark!!) I find travel cots are more difficult for the little angels to escape from because of the cloth sides. DD never tries to climb out of his when we go away anywhere.

yes thats a good point about the travel cots. you could put it off til after the holiday, use a travel cot on the holiday as they are virtually impossible to climb out of

We are reliant on whatever they provide. We are going with Mark Warner - does anyone know more about the cots being proper cots or travel cots? Travel cots do sound ideal. Once she is asleep she is pretty good, but it's more for bedtime really as we also will have her baby sister with us too and I dont want her disturbed. Of an evening I belive they will listen out for the girls for us once they are in bed and we go to dinner, but the thought of #1 waking and going through the room on her own is a little concerning to me.
