8 month old perfect sleeper now a nightmare!

For the past week DS has become a nightmare when it comes to sleeping.
Normally I'd just put him in his cot, kiss him and walk out and he'd go to sleep no fussing.

Now he's crying on his way up the stairs or immediately after I kiss him goodnight.

I've attempted the empty chair technique but he still cries and it's wearing me down to the point where I've just had to leave him and sit down stairs because I feel like I'm at the end of my tether.

How do I sleep train him again?

I did it when he was 2 months by going in every 5 mins to give him back his dummy but he never cried like this and he stopped after 3 nights.

Now it seems whatever I do he just screams his heart out.

I know controlled crying can cause brain development problems but will one night hurt? I just can't cope after him doing it 3 times a day (2 naps and bedtime) for about a week.

I was starting to get angry at him earlier which I have never done before Sad

I don't know how to go in and comfort him like I did the first time. It was easy the first time! I'd go back in pop in his dummy and he'd fall asleep, he now can put his own dummy in and any attempt to settle him is met with more screaming Confused

How is he during the day?
Grizzly?
Could he be teething.

He has probably developed seperation anxiety. He's exactly the right age. Just stay with him till it passes? You are a lucky lady indeed if he has self-settled until now ;)
