Mine didn't until 34 months.
By "not speak",do you mean no words at all?Does he point?Babble?

ds didnt speak much at all until he turned 2. He is nearly 3 and has been referred for speech therapy. However hv said he is at low end of normal for his age but he is advanced in a lot of other stuff and she doesnt want it to hold him back???!!!???

He communicates. just doesnt really speak. DS3 was similar. then just started talking in sentences! He doesnt say mummy, daddy or anything!! Can yell MUM at 5.30 though!!! We do know what he wants most of the time!
Just wondered if anyone elses was the same as I hear all about the ones that DO talk!!

DD didn't say one word until she was 2.1

but I had no worries at all (2nd child) because she communicated beautifully ... I always knew what she wanted by her actions and noises ... She responded when I spoke to her .. she just used her own language .. babble

she is now 2.3 months old and says things like "I want one too please" in amongst other babble-licious stuff

I do think its different with subsequent children ..

I had small feelings something might be wrong but not because of her .. becuase I was judging her against DS who said his first word at 10 months and could speak in sentences by 18 months

but she's totally fine .. as most of me felt .. she actually appears far brighter (more connections) than DS did at that stage

Sounds cool to me.Mine went from single words(and not many of them!) to two-three word sentences, using plurals, past tense and possessives in the space of three weeks.
At 2 he could say yup and nah,I remember because he started SALT the day before he turned 2.

i have a friend who is the youngest of 3 and she didn't speak until the middle child went to nursery when she was 3.

She didn't speak because she didn't have to as every gave her what she wanted. It was only her family started asking her what she needed and wited for an answer did she realy start. Althrough her brothers both now wish they hadn't as she not shut up since.
