baby ds wants to be held all the time

I only wish I could sit there cuddling him all day, but with the dds aged 4 & 2 I need to be able to put him down! He hates his chair and car seat, I don't feel safe with him lying on his gym mat with dd2 hurtling around and he doesn't like the sling I've bought either.

What can I do?

I would say get a sling that you're both happy with.

i know what you mean, my ds who is 5 weeks and the moment i put him dwn he starts screaming!! he is currently in my arms as he would not accept being put dwn! i had to eat my dinner like this!

my dd was like this so got a ring sling and she loved it. Also loved her swing thing as she felt like I was holding her.

We had same problem with twins, impossible situation until someone gave us a wind up baby swing, was a godsend!

hiya nearlythree my youngest is 12 weeks and he loves to be cuddled 24/7. Lovely as it is, you can imagine how much time my 15 month old gives him for that.

The best thing for my babies I have ever ever bought is a genuine sheepskin...they are awesome, keep them cool when they are hot, warm when they are cold, and most importantly with this one I have found you can tuck them in around them and they feel like they are being cuddled.

Thanks again! I'd always thought those swing things looked a bit overstimulating but might see if someone has one I can try out.

At least ds sleeps well, he's in his cot now. But he weighs over 15 lbs and it gets a bit wearing!

A sling you both like, a genuine sheepskin - and remember that this is only a phase and it won't last for long. In a week's time he'll probably want to be stretched out in his cot in a darkened room!

hi, it sounds like you have a high need baby, as theyre called in the AP circles. try a ring sling or wrap carrier and maybe get "the fussy baby" by dr Sears. it will give you loads of pointers on nhow to cope with a high need baby and not to feel negative about how dfemanding they are. my DS is high need too and i know it can be hard, but put the hard work in now and you'll reap the rewards later

I would recommend a huggababy sling, but I think if youre running around after the other two children, and as he gets bigger and heavier it will become more and more taxing to be carrying him around allday, also this doesnt give him the chance to settle himself so he may end up more clingy/needy

I would def recommend a swing, you can get lots of different ones now all singing and dancing or just a plain graco one that simply swings back and forth at 2 speeds- i had one like that and have used it with both my boys and found it invaluable. You can find them on ebay nowdays very cheap so its not necessarily a matter of spening £80-100

Thanks again for the further replies. I've read Sears and am not sure ds is that high need, certainly not compared to dd1 - he sleeps well ayt night, it's just by day that he wants to be held and gets in a rage if he doesn't!
