worried about my baby and the future

Hi my baby is 10 months old and obviously has 'problems' (i'm waiting for referrals). She's been late with all her development especially her gross motor skills. At the moment she is unable to sit unaided and is not mobile (apart from rolling). My doctor said some of her muscles seem very stiff and they are concerned about her smallish head. She also has a squint that I'm waiting to see a specialist about. It's all so scary not knowing what's wrong or what her future holds, if its something minor that a bit of physio can 'cure' or if its something more serious.
Has anyone else been in this situation?

Sorry that you are going through this elliefant, it must be scary. Hopefully you have someone in real life that you can talk this through with.

As the PP has said, the special needs section has loads of experts and people that have been through similar experiences. If you post there you should hopefully get some helpful responses.

I am sorry to hear you are are worried and anxious about your baby. I was in this situation not so long ago. And I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Knowing something is not quite right, yet not knowing what is So frightening. And all thoughts stem to the future. My dd is 2 now. She was prem and we were warned of possible problems. She was late with (and still is) all her gross motor skills. She sat at 15months (although is still sometimes wobbly). Still can't crawl or walk but she is standing now and starting to side step! It's been an emotional road, but time certainly helps and life is good and it does get easier. Your dd is still young, she certainly has time on her side and any difficulties could well pass. My advice is to get as much help, input on board as soon as possible,
Is there anything in dd birth history that could explain any delays??

I dont know anything about the eyes but my dd was late in all her gross motor skills she was 13 months when sat unaided 19 months when she bum shuffled, crawled at 22 month and finally walked at 2.1 she had white matter brain damage but you would never know. she is now bang upto date with all other 2 year olds. what in trying to say is its hard not knowing whats up or when things will happen. I spent so long worrying and encourageing her I never just enjoyed her. she will get there. the sn section is great have a look over there xx

Thank you all for your replies. It was a normal straight forward pregnancy and delivery, I have older children who do not have any problems. I try my hardest not to stress on what she cannot do and focus on the things she has achieved (she can clap, a bit haphazard but its still clapping lol and she gives hi 5s). Its just frustrating not knowing exactly what's wrong and the referrals seem to be taking forever!
