Discipline - 16 month old

I have a 16 month old boy who is pretty bonkers. Very energetic and great fun. Shows a reasonable amount of understanding and has a few words. But he is like the terminator when it comes to other children, he runs at high speed and knocks them down, he doesn't think twice about poking them in the face with his finger and he will bite me if he is agitated or when I try to discipline him. I go to his eye level and give him a firm "no" and distract him with something else to do. But it doesn't seem to deter him. Any suggestions?

It should work by the time he's about four.

Keep going.

Sorry.

You need to step in before he gets destructive.

Make sure he's getting decent naps as it can be overtiredness.

Also show him what to do and distract before he kicks off as you probably can tell before he's about to cause mayhem.

Thanks trollsworth, I'm sure you are right :)

Hotcrosshoney he is the worlds worst napper, so that's a good point. I'll try to get in there before he cracks.

Thanks!!

Julie

When my 16 month old bites me ( he does it is he wants a breastfeed and I say no) I shout no and put him on the floor, he is sad for a shaft while but I think it works, he goes to bite me now but he just sucks.

Is he around other children often?

Yeah, he goes to a childminder 3 days a week and there is always one or two other kids who are slightly older. She never complains that he is rough or naughty.
