I am almost at the end of my tether, my DS who will be 1 on the 4th September, has been lashing out when he can't get his own way for the past coupe of months. I have done and continue to do the usual put him down and ignore him, but it's just not making any difference.
We are also having problems stillwith sleeping and eating!
I just keep wondering am I doing something drastically wrong

I think it's partly an age thing. My ds did this and so do quite a few of his little friends.
We stopped the putting down as it didn't seem to be working and instead we would hold his hand and stroke it on our face or arm and just say "gentle, gentle"
He is now coming up for 20 months and if he hits I just say "gentle" and he generally stops.

I think a lot of it is frustration too, so please don't worry that you're doing anything wrong. He can't communicate with you how he is feeling and he just needs a way to vent that frustration. It is a phase though, and he WILL get over it
