(Hello! I'm new. Apologies if I've put this in the wrong place, I'm still getting my bearings.)

We seem to have slipped through the health visitors' net a bit; she's been twice, once before and once after our baby was born, then cancelled her next appointment because she was ill and we haven't heard anything since.

Should we chase them and make sure she comes back, or keep quiet? My partner is happy about not having the interference tbh, and we already have details of local clinics and drop-ins, baby weighings etc. which we can go to.

Depends if you find the visits useful. Our health visitor is wonderful. Knowledgeable and supportive beyond belief. I have heard that many are not as good though.

Our HV was useless, I'm sad to say, so had to find help elsewhere. And at the time we were in inner London and often had a two-hour wait at any clinic. Are you in a busy area? If not, I'd just pop along to the clinics - they're SO much better where we are now. It's good to get out with the baby when you can anyway!

i think we had about 2 or 3 home visits when DS was born, then you just took them along to be weighed until a one year check, then 2 year check.

I only saw my hv twice at my house, both after the birth. After that I was signed off & just went to the weight drop in clinic. If you have a happy & healthy baby, I'd suggest you'll get better advice from posting on here!

I'm sorry to be negative, but my experience & that of friends was not a positive one as they seem to just repeat guidelines you could read from a book & not offer actual advice gained from personal experience.
