**is my child normal?! he's only one!**

my ds who is 13 months has done/ is doing the following things, some of which freak me out, do yours?

plays with stuff then before moving onto the next thing, puts the thing hes finished with back in the toy box.

have just received a parcel and he is now using the sheets of bubble wrap to wrap various things up.

he tries to put the dogs collar & lead on the dog.

he brushes his hair and answers the telephone if it rings.

he loads discs into cd,dvd player and dh's xbox.

ive had to buy him a mini dyson so he can help me vacuum.

is he strange?!

sounds like my ds..hes now nearly 3 and still same.

did he do this type of thing at 1 and hes still doing it now?

Which of the things you mentioned 'freak you out', 1Baby1Bump? Your DS sounds like a typical busy little boy, who likes to be involved with things. My boys always liked finding out how things worked when they were really young - still do now! Your DS is not at all strange in my opinion!

yes was one when he started, obviously does tons more now but still some odd things iykwim

Sounds like my dd (just 14months) - she asks for "brush" to brush my hair, tidies up the baby wipes she's emptied from the box, phones daddy "hello daddeee, bye bye daddee" and says "cheese" when you point a camera at her etc. It's all just the start of imaginative play and it's so much fun to watch.

Your ds sounds like he's doing all the right things for his age - enjoy him and encourage him by letting him copy you do other things - "feeding" his toys etc.

It sounds to me like your child is perfectly normal and happy I have two sons now 6 and 8 and both of them did all those things. They had a Dyson, and a cooker and they just did the things that I did...not sure if that means I spent way to much time doing housework!! Children learn by watching and copying, I would be more freaked out if they didnt do those things so don't worry

My dd who is 14 months is absolutely rubbish at brushing her hair - does it in completely the wrong direction

DD, 13 months too, spends her time cleaning the floor on her knees with a cloth, she take my keys and imitate me opening the front door (can't reach the handle yet thankfully!), this morning she tried to put DH's helmet on her head , and she tries to put our shoes on her feet (she never wore shoes before so maybe a sign for us since she has just started to take few steps!!!). So 1Baby1Bump, I think you DS is normal, and I love it to have DD trying to do so many things.

My DS (14 months) is also very keen on 'helping': he has a toy broom and dustpan and brush to clean the floor, holds the phone up to his ear (that's all he can do with it though, he can't talk yet or dial numbers) and puts rubbish in the bin and things to be washed in the washing machine (everything goes in the washing machine though as he doesn't know much about the dishwasher, I have to keep it closed or he climbs into it! He also 'cleans' his highchair tray.

I think as well as being very sweet, like others have said it's the start of imaginative play and learning about the world around them. With the cleaning long may it continue!

DD 14 months loves talking into phone. Will put used nappies into the dustbin. Helps to empty the dishwasher, mainly cutlery, whether they are clean or dirty. Also likes filling and emptying washing machine again it doesn'tmetter whether clothes are clean or dirty. She will also wipe all the surfaces with baby wipes - would love to say she is picking up cleaning habits from me but I think it's mainly the nursery influence

i was a bit shocked when i turned around and all the toys had dissapeared! i thought one of the dogs had taken them, as they sometimes do, but thought they couldnt have taken them all that quickly!
he loads the machine too. then tries to switch it on.

it is all very cute and i just want to squeeze him when he does it. i just didnt realize they could do all this stuff so soon.
he likes to draw with his crayons too.

oh, and if he's up to no good and i ask him what hes doing he says:

'no, goggy!'

the dog did it! already he blames the dogs!!

yep he sounds perfectly normal 1b1b! it is so cute isn't it wen they start doing things like that.
And if you can harness it to help you do chores it's even better

start to worry when they get older the place looks like a bomb exploded in your front room as they get older the cleaning and tidying soon stops

my house is totally trashed! he doesnt do that much tidying yet!
he gets everything down and spreadsit all over the floor.
he spent yesterday chucking all his clean jimjams around. they were on the sofa, the side board, in the toybox, some back in the washing machine.
im still one pair of Bob Builder bottoms down!
