DS gone to ed with no nappy, help!

DS is 3.6, he has been dry in the day for almost a year but still had a nappy at night

Tonight he didn't want to put one on

Should I wake him and take him to the toilet before I go to bed or just leave him??

Was not expecting this and not prepared with wetting sheets ect

Is he always normally wet in the morning?

If you are very concerned then can gently lift just before you go to bed and put on the toilet, some how the automatically wee without really waking up!!

do you have an old cot quilt handy you can slide under him? I just used to use one of those and bung it it in the washer the next day if it was wet.

if there is no protection on the bed then I would wake him and take him to the toilet before you go to bed. The last thing you want is a wet mattress in the middle of the night. I wouldnt get him to wee in his sleep.

Is he likely to go back to sleep easily if you disturb him. If yes, I'd carry him to the loo for a quick wee just before you go to bed. Try to do it in the dark, with very little engagement. I just whispered to my DS, I need you to do a wee, and left it at that. Carried him back in to bed and straight back to sleep.

Buy some bed mats for tomorrow night, and double make the beds (bedmat/sheet/bedmat/sheet) to make clearing up any accidents in the night easy.

His nappy has never been dry in the morning but only seems to have 1 wee in it, like it's his morning wee if you know what I mean. He will happily wee in his nappy when awake rather than go to the toilet

Both of my older DSs started to refuse night nappies, up to that point they'd both been wet every morning - neither of them ever wet the bed and that was night training done. Fingers crossed it is the same for you.

I woke him, he did a wee, but was wet this morning. What now?

We has quite a few wet nights before my DS was dry at nights (ds1 was 4.5 and DS was 3.5 before either of them managed a full night).

What next depends very much in you and DS. If he really doesn't want to wear a nappy/pull up at night, and you're willing to give it a go, double or triple make the bed. Have extra pj's ready for quick, fuss free changes. Limit drinks before bed. I'd still pick up for a wee last thing at night before you go to bed yourself.

Accept that you will have some accidents, and don't be afraid to go back to pull ups if its just too early for him.

Lolli did he have an actual nappy or pullups/pyjama pants? Just thinking maybe if he was in a bog standard nappy he might accept being told he's a big boy and can wear 'pants' to bed instead? And buy some Huggies drynites or similar.

Juniper he was in pull ups, the wee he did that wet his bed didn't wake him up, unless that woke him up this morning? il see if he refuses a pull up tonight, if he does il try again

Lifting only keeps beds dry and children asleep for longer. It is not a solution I'm afraid.

We lift our 3yo but only to give him another half an hour sleep a night. He is capable of staying dry for 11.5 to 12 hours but we lift him because it normally pushes his wakeup time from 6.45 to 7.15 (as his need to wee wakes him up when he has a full bladder, as it should do).

Children may not start producing the anti diuretic hormone thing that reduces urine production at night until they are 8. Many do it much earlier but every child is different.

I'm afraid nappies / pull ups are the only answer. He won't learn to stay dry I'm afraid.

One question. Is the bed wee warm?
