Im in desperate need of help. I have 2 boys aged 6 and 10 and am having real difficulty controlling my youngest behaviour and anger. He has always been smart and willfully but over the last 6 months his behaviour has deteriorated into fits of rage and aggression that I just can't control. I am a single Mum with MS (wheelchair) and can't overpower him or catch him. My husband left 3 years ago and lives 200 miles away so Fatherly discipline is not available. I've spoken to the Health Visitor who told me to speak to the School Nurse. She gave me some suggestions but no referral to behaviour management. I spoke to his Headmistress who was very helpful and understanding but as his behaviour isnt a school problem she said a referral would take months and suggested I try my GP. I have tried reward jars, praise upon praise, time out, removal of bycycle etc but still I can't control his temper and behaviour. I am seeing the GP on Tuesday. Has anyone else been down this route for behaviour management classes?

Use the methods in the book Kazdin Method for Parenting the Defiant Child

A behavior management class is also a good idea.
