I've been wondering this for a while, thought I'd sound you lot out? I have 2 boys, 10month wakes about 5.30 and 3 yo 6.30-7.00. All mums I know with girls seem to get up later?

Just interested in your opinions.

I have a boy of 2.9 and a girl of 11 months.

He sleeps better (ie doesn't wake up in the night) and generally sleeps later in the morning as well.

Really should go to bed, given that DD will presumablt wake up some time or other..

Ive got ds 4 1/2 and dd 16 mths they both go to bed at the same time around 8 ish ds gets up around 7am dd will sleep in till at least 9 9-30 if i let her.they both sleep through the night and even if ds goes to bed later he still gets up at this time.

I have 3 boys and 6 girls. I have found that it is more dependant on the child's personality than which sex they are. My eldest ds and my 5th daughter were dreadful for getting up around 5am regardless of what time they went to bed. I have to say that I have not really noticed any difference between the children up until around age 10 that could be attributed to which sex they were.

Both mine DD 2.6 and DS 4.6 wake anytime between 5-7am and never at the same time! DS is often in our bed though.

DS1 has always been an early bird, up until the age of 4 he always woke between 4.30am and 5.30am. now he is usually about 6.30, but wakens his younger brother who tends to need more sleep.
Even if we have a late night he still wakens early

zaphod · 22/08/2006 08:47

I have 4 ds who are all early risers, and 1 dd who is happy to stay in bed until she is woken. These days thats about 10 or 10.30.

Discovered DS in our bed (but DH is away so there was enough room). DD woke us all up at about 6:20.

My 7 year old son is always up between 6am and 7am...sometimes he gets up studidly early like 4am and I send him back to bed...he has bags of energy!

My 5 year old son occasionally has a lie-in till around 8:30am but not often, he's usually up around 7am too.

My 12 year old sister can lie in till dinner time but I put that down to her age rather than her gender lol

Nemo1977 · 22/08/2006 09:36

ds is 2.10yrs agets up between 6-7am
dd is 8mths and gets up around 7.30-9am..lol
