Nappy nightmares - is your's a little wriggler too?

Okay this is daft but I am having mare trying to get nappies on my little one. She goes nuts when we try to lie her down and then as soon as the nappy is off she is off too.

Most of the time not a problem

Problem occurs when poo gets trailed around room iykwim

Any tips?

I have to just pin ds down. I sit and put my legs over his legs iyswim? that leaves my hands free to do the nappy.

How old is your little one? I have found pull ups to be an absolute life saver when the wriggling gets too much. I know thhat doesn't help much with the poo situation, but takes alot of the hassle out of trying to get a clean nappy back on again!
Yep, pinning down sounds like a good way to go!

Absolutely wriggly one too! How old? Mine 10 month boy on size 4 nappies. Next lot of nappies will be pull ups!

Oh don't tell me it gets worse

My ds is 6 month and will lay still up to the second the nappy goes under his bum then he's off.

(He's also in size 4 nappies)

Yes 8mo old DD. It's like trying to get a nappy on an octopus.

I give her the Green Pampers Box and generally calm is restored.

Have become an expert in taking off nappy, wiping a bottom that is crawling away from me (attached to very giggly ds) and then putting a clean nappy on him while he is standing up and trying cruise around his bedroom (And I use cloth nappies so then have to get a wrap over the nappy too...)

my DS is 20 months and according to him changing his nappy is a form of child abuse. I am nearly 38 weeks pg and reguarly chase him round the house with a nappy, I have had poo on the carpets, duvets and walls, I generally try and corner him in the bathroom (wipe clean surfaces!) now and let him play with the bath taps or climb on to toilet, anything to distract him basically.

Similar story as yours JessaJam. It as become a real art to put cloth nappies on DD. The only problem is I can't imagine her grand mothers running around with a nappy when DD goes their on holiday this winter!!! She is going to have to learn to behave .

I try giving dd something to play with that she's not usually allowed (e.g. keys), something she can hold in her hands while I pin her down, another cloth nappy baby!

Thank god for pull ups! I've heard the huggues kind are better than pampers. i've also seen lidl brand. anyone have a preference?

Best way to distract my wriggly cloth nappy baby is give him a clean wrap - he loves chewing the velcro!!!!! Has to be well timed tho, usually after I have removed dirty nappy, removed feet from poo (why do they curl their legs up the moment the nappy is off ), cleaned poo from rapidly retreating bottom and brought him back to changing mat.

We have different rattles which live on our changing unit (I've got the big Stokke one which is great) and I try to give him a different one each time to keep his interest. Sometimes it works! We're cloth too

DS is a bugger for this. We have a cot-top changer, that says "Up to 12 months". He's 14 months and, frankly, I don't know what I'd do without it! He knows he'll fall off if he tries to escape to one side, which limits his movements somewhat. Distraction is also key. I have books, torches, keys, just for use at changing times. And I make sure that I have nappy, wrap, wipes, lid off nappy bucket, all at the ready so there are no interruptions or delays! It's still stressful though...

I've always used pampers pull ups and I've never had a prob. No leaks or mess ever!

Mine is almost 9 months and does the flipping and wriggling and generally getting hands, feet and everything else covered in poo, I now (successfully) occupy him by giving him two items to play with, one in each hand, usually an empty pill bottle filled with chickpeas and a another item that doesn't come from the toy box, he loves seeing new things, I keep these at the changing table so he now expects them there. I should mention that I change the "toys" every week as he grows used to them, at the moment, if you can believe it, I'm using a library book of his and an empty pampers babywipe packet.
