2/3 year old awake time

My DD who is two and a half still takes a long nap (hurray!) she can stay awake for a maximum of six hours without an exhausted melt down.

Just wondering when she'll be able to stay awake happily for a bit longer?

We tend to go out just for the morning and then home for nap (she'll only nap in car or pushchair if completely desperate) but it's a bit of a pain when we are out with others as it tends to be over lunch and it means I'm clock watching to leave in time before she's getting tired and it can be a bit rushed/anti social.

When did your LO drop their nap? Or manage to stay awake for most of the day?

My Ds (3)was a great napper. But he dropped his nap at 2 (boooo)

Was difficult from 4-5pm onwards. Really grumpy but we just started putting him to bed an hour earlier.

Can't remember the last time he was grumpy from lack of sleep. He sleeps 12-13 hrs a night.

Not sure how much this helps but my DD is 3 ( today!) and is exactly the same! Will watch with iinterest.

I shouldn't moan really as she'll nap for 3 hours and sleep for 11 or 12 at night...but I like to avoid her incredible melt downs as much as possible and she can be soooo grumpy if I dare keep her out later than 1.30!

I'll of course be moaning when she stops taking one GrinWink

God, make the most of it! Mine hasn't napped since he was 22 months and now only sleeps 11 hours at night. He's 2.9. I think they're all so different that it is really hard to tell when they'll start dropping the nap.

My dd stopped napping at 18 months. We tried everything but to no avail. I think all children are different. I know children of friends who were still napping at four.

It's impossible to know, I've known some DC drop their nap at 12 months and some drop it closer to 3. My own DD is 2.8 and dropped hers completely a few months ago.

Ds is 2.7yo and in the process of dropping his nap...days before his sister is due! He had stopped it but in the last two weeks is having one again. He generally sleeps 6.30-6.30am but is definitely tired by 3/4pm if he hasn't napped. Makes bedtime easier when he doesn't! His naps have only ever been 45mins to 90mins if we're lucky though.

I also have one that naps over lunchtime my 22m old sleeps 11-1.30 annoying going out for food
