Is it normal for my 1 year old to be like jekyll and hyde?!

Hi can anyone give me some advise. My 1 year old son has always been high maintenance and quickly frustrated, easily bored etc... he had started to settle in the last month finally but i went back to work 5 weeks ago and he now goes to a childminder 3 days a week. Yet he is like Jekyll and Hyde having extreme mood swings: screaming, kicking off and creating and then next minute snaps out of it and starts gurgling. On the days i pick him up from the childminder at 5pm he can have been fine with her and then kicks off the minute i arrive and he continues to create and paddy alot all the way till hes to gets to bed. Any advise? Is this normal for his age and situation? Anything i can do to help? We try the distraction and ignoring him and of course make sure he has our attention when he gets home. P.S it isnt his teeth!

Is he getting enough sleep? He might be tired and overwhelmed and it all comes out when he sees you. I would give him a big cuddle and tell him he feels tired but it is OK.

My DD is a bit like this, we call her "sunshine and showers" as she can swing from one mood to another so quickly. Tiredness makes it worse as does any sort of illness (cold etc) or pain (teething).

I think some children are just like this but I agree tiredness could be making it worse... how much does he nap at the CM?

Thanks. He his getting quite alot of sleep at cm although i can not get him to eat alot at the moment so i am sure that wont help with his energy levels. He also sleeps well at night. I try to cuddle hime but he usually pulls away. I guess minipie like you say some are just like this...i worry is there something else wrong to be so unhappy but i dont know what?!
