Which tablet to get

Hi there,

I posted this in Products, but thought perhaps there were more people here..

I'm looking for a tablet for my nearly 3 year old to entertain him during flights we have coming up in the summer.

I've been looking on Amazon and saw many that were around the £50-mark we're prepared to spend (our budget would probably be up to £80). But I have a completely daft question (I couldn't find an answer on anywhere, or then I just didn't know how to search Blush).. DS likes to watch videos on youtube, but not all flights we'll be taking have onboard wireless, so I was wondering if you can download the videos on the tablet so he could watch them without internet..? Same with games actually, do they work without internet or not? I've got some puzzles on my iPhone he does sometimes, but they wouldn't work without internet, right..?

Thanks in advance! Oh and any recommendations on which one to buy are most welcome! I was initially looking at this one for example:

www.amazon.co.uk/NOW-ANDROID-4-2-2-JELLY-BEAN/dp/B009B0C0KI/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1396864997&sr=1-3&keywords=kids+tablets+with+wifi

Well you can see with phone if they still work by turning wi fi off on phone. Swipe up from bottom and its the second symbol. Try using games. The cat one i gave on phone doesnt seem to repeat things back offline.
My kindle lets me play games offline (you just cant buy stuff:)
If the flights are really long battery power might be an issue.
It feels like my kindle only lasts a couple of hours

Hello! Aah, just checked and the Thomas the Tank engine game thingy he likes seems to work offline so that's that sorted :) ..

That's a good point about battery life, which I stupidly hadn't thought of! One flight is 3 hours, but we're flying long haul in September, so this particular one I had my eye on would be no good really.

I'm starting to think the iPhone will do well and my ages old mini laptop with saved videos to watch. Actually starting to think if I really want to buy a tablet for my 3-year-old Confused.

My 22m has a bit of addiction to the kindle although unable to play exactly and keeps exiting games.
But if she sees it she wants to play.

we have a hudl from tesco which seems quite good. I think they are £120 full price but i got it when you could double up club card vouchers so it cost £60 of vouchers

Amazon kindle fire hd has a good battery of around 8-9 hours and good storage size and you can transfer files from a pc to the device.
