Normal for toddler to be very attached to one teacher?

Ds (3) is at a lovely and nurturing nursery. Recently, he has started crying and getting distraught whenever his teacher leaves the room. I am not sure if this is normal. Anyone with a similar experience?

it can happen. its the downside of having a nurturing relationship
some of my key children don't cope very well when
not in but its all part of the learning process
I get told off by the mums if I ever have a day off
