Head-banging 1yr old?!?!?!?

Hi, DS turned 1 on the 5th of august, and it seems since his birthday he has found a new way of expressing his frustration.......head-banging! I am fine with this, as I know it is a natural way for him to let me know he is upset about something, but I am REALLY worried about the amount of knocks his head is getting. All is well if I am carrying him, as I can pre-empt him, but if he is playing on the floor there is little I can do.....any tips (other than growing a new set of eyes up my bum (lol )

My ds did this and his dad did it (till about 18 lol). Ds will be 2 soon and seems to have mostly grown out of it.

Although they seem to be hitting their heads really hard (I hate the noise the most) it isn't actually hard enough to cause any damage. I found the best way was just to completely ignore it. It took a while to stop, but it did cut down.

Seems to be quite common - god knows why you would want to do it though.

Cheers ilovecaboose. Apparently I didn't do it as a child (I was like the anti-christ according to my Ma!!!), so I'll ask DH's ma if he did it. I just find it a little worrying...he banged his head on the radiator yesterday, and it really marked his head.
