Independance - how old is old enough?

My five year old is wanting to go out by himself, for walks, to school and to his friends. I am pleased he feels confident but not really ready for not knowing where he is and who is looking after him. What age is OK? We live on a busy road....

Not sure what age is old enough, but I don't think I would want a 5 year old going off on their own. I don't think they have the road safety know how, etc. at that age, and are too easily distracted to keep in mond what they do know.

Agree. Maybe go to a friends house a few doors down by self but not much more.
