I have been researching into Reiki as interested in complimentary healing for stress, anxiety & low blood sugar. I was googling and the page that I will be linking came up. I felt it made me feel uncomfortable , but also curious.
What do other mums feel ??

Only skim read the post and cannot comment on the book. I have heard of children practising reiki although I have not seen it myself. Children are open to so many things as they rarely have preconceived ideas or 'feel stupid' touching people etc. I am a reiki practitioner and regularly practice reiki on DS (4). He asks for it when he is sick or hurt. I will teach him reiki when he is a bit older.
One of the most important things for me is to find a teacher who has a similar belief system to yourself so explains reiki in a way you can appreciate. Some people teach in a very religious context which would not suit me. I do however believe in the ability to channel energy from the 'universe' because I have seen the positive effects.
I agree with the link that reiki and other similar practices can teach children to appreciate the environment, think beyond themselves and material things.
I am not sure I have answered your post but would be interested in others thoughts.
