Nearly 5wo boy so bunged up in early hours

Help!

He had a cold, but it's always the worst in the small hours. Then it effects his latching and feeds and he gets all upset and agitated with it which wakes him up. Then he just wants to feed to go back to sleep which he struggles to do an breathe.

I've tried the nose drops but doesn't help.

It's as if it gets too stuffy in our room??

Hi little, have you tried sleeping with the window slightly open? Have you tried a nasal aspirator too? Our dd hated hers but at least she could then feed.

Not sure how early you can use Karvol but that's worth checking too.

If all else fails try taking him into the bathroom and run a hot shower, the steam should help. Obviously though keep him well away from the hot water

Tried a small amount of karvol with no effect.

What really helped my ds was putting a bowl of boiling water with a teaspoon of Vicks melted in under the cot. It humidifies the room and clears the nose.

Also, baby olbas on a damp towel over the radiator helps

Calpol make a plug in vaporiser which I swear by. It would be expensive to use it every night but for a week or so whilst they have a cold it's brilliant. You can get them in boots. And turn off the radiator altogether. The heat will only dry up his nose and block it even more. Good luck

go into boots and buy eucalyptus oil hun and then leave a few drops in some water near his crib and on a muslin cloth next to him (but far enough away that he can't try and suck it) as it will help clear the congestion.

also as others have said crack the windows a bit for some fresh air.

i also use normal vicks (opposed to snuffle babe) direct onto my dd's chest and under her nose to help
