language delay or nothing to worry about?

my dd is nearly 5 I have noticed that she doesnt have as big a vocabulary as other children the same age, for eg, she will say " want you come here" (I want you to come here) and uses incorrect words says when for then she can make the th sound so its not a pronunciation thing, she doesnt seem to have long involved conversations with us that I have heard other children having, my friends dd will talk your head off! she makes noise at home all the time singing and talking to herself.
he and she are sometimes muddled, but she can talk in longer sentences as well thats why it seems a bit odd that she misses out certain connecting words.
she has poor concentration and her short term memory seems to be shocking, her teacher said shes not really ready for school (started in september) and jumps from one thing to another, shes struggling with the phonics got 2 out of 20 in a test, the teacher didnt mention the language at all but she as she is fairly quiet around other people, maybe she doesnt talk to the teacher enough for her to pick up on it.
whenever we speak to her she says "what" more like its a reflex or habit rather than she hasnt heard us or as if she needs the delay to work out what we have said, if you dont repeat she will respond , for eg if I say close the door, shes says what? then if I dont say anything else she will close the door. however it is really hard to not keep on repeating to her, I have had to stop myself doing it.
is anyone elses LO like this, shes very forward with everything else, has anyone elses teacher said your child isnt ready for school?

I would go to the GP and ask to. Be referred for a hearing test pronto.

If she does have a hearing difficulty at this stage it can have a profound effect on her long term language ability.

I did think about hearing problems, but she had a hearing test at school and passed, would a gp referred test be more in depth? she doesnt seem to have problems hearing, doesnt have TV blasting or anything like that.

Glue ear can come and go. I would push for a more in depth test and check of her ears.

Also worth having her sight tested if you haven't had that done recently.

I would self-refer to your local speech and language therapy service. You can google their details and refer your DD over the phone. It does sound to me like her language development is just a little bit delayed (I am a SALT).

I agree another hearing test would be a good idea alongside that referral, just to double check.

she actally failed the sight test in school but was fine at the specialist tests, I wonder if she had problems understanding what they were asking her to do during the school eye test, we were with her during the hospital test, but I cant remember if I was re-phrasing for her or not.
